My Recommended Violin Christmas Music Books -

My Very Best Christmas for Violin - Great for Suzuki Groups and other small ensembles. this book boasts all of the most popular Christmas songs like Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Silent Night plus 14 other well-known and loved pieces. The melodic line is very simple and some songs have optional duet/harmony parts that are also on the beginning level.

For 108 pages of festival fiddlin' fun check out Mel Bay A Fiddling Christmas. Each part comes with a harmony, melody, and piano part, as well as guitar chords. I have yet to find something produced by Mel Bay that I did not like. This music is late beginner or intermediate. The rhythms can be tricky and you must have a fairly decent understanding of all notes in first position. Not only does this book contain all the standard Christmas pieces but it also has a wide variety of "Winter Songs" as well.

Easy Christmas Instrumental Solos for Strings, Level 1 for Violin - Early intermediate violin players will enjoy playing from this Christmas instrumental solo album. It comes with a play-along-CD. Which is ALWAYS a hit with my students! One thing I really like about this book is that it has some more obscure yet lovely Christmas pieces like "Believe" from the movie Polar Express, "Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy", "Your a Mean One Mr. Grinch", and Little Drummer Boy.

Advanced Violin Players will LOVE the challenge of the Jenny oaks Baker Christmas Album. Although many people own Album 1 and Album 2 of Jenny Oaks Baker, very few know of her excellent Christmas Album. This album requires an advanced piano accompanist and an advanced violinist, a welcome change from the usual beginning Christmas violin music. It is tough finding Christmas music that is more advanced.
