All players beginner or advanced can benefit from reviewing the basics of how to hold the violin. For parents of students this can be particular helpful as you help your little munchkin get their proper start! 

Remember when holding the violin to:

  • Keep the left elbow from resting on the side of your body.
  • Keep the left wrist from collapsing and touching the fingerboard.
  • Keep the left wrist from bending outward.
  • Keep the left wrist in a natural postion.
  • The chin rest should be positioned along the left jawbone.
  • The shoulder rest should be positioned along the left collarbone.
